NEW YORK, NY — Community members and stakeholders, artists, and organizations will gather together for the official ribbon cutting ceremony unveiling “Yangtze: The Ground Mural”, a vibrant new public artwork transforming historic Doyers Street in Chinatown into an immersive cultural landscape inspired by the legendary dragon spirit and the Yangtze River – the largest river in Asia.
SMOE Studio the artist, reimagines Doyers Street as a flowing current through the heart of New York City, drawing inspiration from the iconic symbols Yangtze River and dragon deeply rooted in Asian imagination and folklore. Through floral motifs, layered landscapes, and bold color, the artwork invites the community and visitors to experience the sensation of “walking on water” while reflecting on the intersection of tradition and modern urban life.
