紐約市長白思豪(Bill de Blasio)6日早上探訪布碌崙(布魯克林)海軍基地時致敬正在辛苦工作、加急生產防護物資的華人工人,他表示,儘管正在面臨各種歧視及仇恨犯罪行為,今天看到的臨時生產線當中,卻有很多正在努力工作的華人,他們是非常好的工人,感激他們在疫情中的奉獻。
白思豪:我刚才已经已经提到了正在工作的人,现在需要说一些眼前必须说的事,我们正处于危机之中,另一种我们都见过且为之不齿的危机,那就是直接针对亚裔社区尤其是华裔社区的歧视和仇恨。我认为这是完全无法接受且违法的,这完全无法被纽约市的法律所容忍,我一直对大家说,如果你看到正在发生的歧视行为,你看到了仇恨犯罪,你看到任何偏见,拨打311投诉,如果是紧急情况拨打911求助。我们会找到这些犯罪者,我们会找到任何歧视者,让他们接受法律的制裁。而今天我想传达的信息是,即使身处这种危机中,即使身处歧视之中,这些工厂的工人中仍有很多是华人,他们正在为所有人工作着,他们面对这些歧视,仍站起来团结一致, 拯救生命,支持所有正在帮助我们的人,我想感谢这些非常好的工人和他们所做的工作。
