[LIVE STREAM] MOCA Forum: Asian American Allyship for Black Lives Matter—Part 1 Awareness

June 19 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

In observance of Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, on Friday, June 19th, MOCA cordially invites you to join us virtually in a two-part series to address Asian American allyship and Black Lives Matter. The first session is an inward examination of racism in Asian American communities with Gov. Gary Locke, Former Governor of Washington and Former Ambassador to China, and Prof. Frank H. Wu, President-Designate of Queens College, City University of New York (CUNY) and author of Yellow: Race in America Beyond Black & White. Moderated by Nancy Yao Maasbach, MOCA President, Gov. Locke and Prof. Wu will discuss issues around affirmative action, immigration, misperceptions, allyship, perpetual foreignness in light of the Black Lives Matter movement, current protests, and COVID-related racism. The second session will be held on Tuesday, July 14, which is an outward call to action with Precious Williams Owodunni, President of Mountaintop Consulting.
